AI4Good Incubator – Teens in AI empowers Youth to Innovate for a Better Future
London, UK – 15 May 2023 – Teens in AI, a social impact-driven initiative that inspires teens to explore a future in tech and AI through collaborative, hands-on learning experiences, is delighted to announce the second edition of its annual AI4Good Incubator taking place from 24 to 28 July 2023. AI4Good was previously known as the AI Accelerator. Teens in AI believes in harnessing technology to create a fair world where everyone has equal opportunity to maximise their potential.
The AI4Good Incubator is a five-day start-up bootcamp-style programme aimed at empowering youth aged 12 to 18 to create impactful AI-driven projects that address real-world problems guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. With the support of our Platinum Partners, Sage and Capgemini, we aim to provide youth with the tools and resources they need to drive innovation and make a difference in their communities.
Participants from around the world will have the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded youth and receive mentoring and guidance from industry experts. Participants will be joining from 14 countries including the UK, Kazakhstan, Turkey, UAE, Bulgaria, Germany, Tanzania, Egypt and Mozambique. AI4Good is open to everyone, regardless of background or experience with AI. The highly anticipated event will see young people from all over the world coming together to learn the vital skills needed to drive innovation and solve today’s problems using cutting-edge technologies. We believe that diversity is essential to driving innovation and solving today’s most pressing issues and we are delighted to report that 68% of participants identify as female.
Teens in AI Founder and CEO, Elena Sinel, comments: “We believe that youth have a critical role to play in shaping the future of AI and creating a better world. Through our AI4Good Incubator, we aim to provide them with the skills and resources they need to turn their ideas into reality.“
Sage and Capgemini are committed to supporting AI4Good in our mission to drive innovation and create positive social impact.
Participants will have the chance to develop their projects with the support of industry experts and mentors. At the end of the programme, they will have the opportunity to pitch their projects to senior leadership for feedback and compete for prizes. Previous prizes have included the chance to pitch at one of our corporate partner’s events and an invitation to attend the AI4Good Global Summit, a gathering of industry leaders, policymakers and academics to discuss the ethical and practical implications of AI and its impact on society.
Spear-headed by Teens in AI’s Project Manager and thought leader, Ntsika Bovula, adds: “As a mother, it brings me peace in my heart to know that there are still dreamers and creatives out there; that young teens are making the impossible possible. As a project leader, I feel incredible knowing that the programme I developed with the support of our team impacts so many lives in a positive way.“
