Teens in AI's AI Adventures online self-paced courses go beyond just coding and responsible AI creation. It's where young minds learn to think critically and solve real-world problems.
London, UK, 25 April 2024 – Teens in AI is proud to announce the launch of AI Adventures, a strategically pivotal and progressive programme of online, self-paced courses designed to address the global diversity gap in responsible AI education. In collaboration with industry leaders such as Teens in AI Platinum Partner, Sage, AI Adventures offers accessible, industry-driven AI education for teenagers aged 11 to 19 around the world.
AI Adventures delivers on the critical need for skill development and balance of diversity in the ever-evolving tech space, from applied AI to data science and ethics. These short courses are tailored to empower beginner and intermediate learners, even those with no coding experience. The programme delivers practical AI skills whilst enhancing problem-solving and data analysis abilities through engaging, interactive methods, including hands-on projects, assessments and coding exercises.
Sage is partnering with Teens in AI in the development of four AI Adventures courses over the course of their two-year partnership. Leveraging their wealth of expertise and cutting-edge content, Sage will add value to our programme with dynamic resources, ensuring our curriculum remains at the forefront of responsible AI education. Their conceptualisation of course materials will not only deepen understanding but also cultivate the critical thinking skills essential for driving innovation. By providing direct access to Sage’s experts, teens will embark on a transformative journey, empowering them to confidently navigate the intricate landscape of AI with creativity and ingenuity.
Commenting on this initiative, Aaron Harris, Global Chief Technology Officer at Sage stated, “Unlocking the potential of AI education for tomorrow’s leaders has never been more important. Through our partnership with Teens in AI, we’re dedicated to helping young people learn about AI, develop essential skills, and think critically. Together, we’re on a mission to ensure that emerging technologies can be accessed by all and to prepare the next generation to use them effectively to drive positive change.“
Lord Tim Clement-Jones CBE, a current Peer and Spokesperson for Science, Innovation and Technology in the House of Lords, and long-standing supporter of Teens in AI, added: “In our pursuit to establish the UK as a global hub for AI, it is crucial that we prioritise ethics, sustainability, and inclusivity. As Teens in AI launches its ‘AI Adventures’ programme, we need to recognise the immense potential AI holds to positively impact lives. Our foremost challenge lies in fostering public trust through ethical development and deployment of technology. This means making a concerted effort towards upskilling and diversifying the AI workforce, ensuring it reflects the richness of our society and respects fundamental rights. This initiative is designed to harness the creativity of a whole generation of young innovators who will shape the future of an AI landscape that not only advances innovation but also upholds our collective values of inclusivity, integrity and a sense of responsibility from an early age.“
Teens in AI is dedicated to fostering an inclusive AI ecosystem by promoting AI literacy, education, and awareness across diverse groups of young people. Recent studies, including McKinsey & Company’s research* and the World Economic Forum’s data**, underscore the slow progress in diversifying leadership in tech and AI. The AI Adventures programme actively works to break down these barriers, providing opportunities for everyone, irrespective of gender, ethnicity, or socio-economic background, to participate and excel in the dynamic world of technology.
With Elena Sinel, Founder and CEO of Teens in AI, emphasising the programme’s broader goals, stating, “The AI Adventures programme is our response to the growing skills and diversity gap in the tech industry globally. We’re committed to equipping young minds with the tools they need to thrive in a future dominated by AI and technology. Our focus is not only on teaching AI but also on nurturing critical thinking, problem-solving and ethical perspectives.“
With the launch of this new programme, Teens in AI is leaning into its mission of providing flexible learning opportunities for teens worldwide. The programme offers a range of course options, from free to paid, with learning grants available for eligible students. Plans to develop courses in multiple languages, as well as teaching guides, are also underway, further supporting responsible AI education and accessibility, bridging the gap for those seeking entry into tech industries, regardless of their background.
