Title: Impact of Snap Inc and its AI chatbot
Date: 27 April 2023
Speaker: Elena Sinel, Founder & CEO of Teens in AI
Interviewers: Rachel Burden and Chris Warburton
Event: Live on radio
Teens in AI’s Founder and CEO, Elena Sinel, was invited by BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast to comment on the latest on Snap Inc and its AI chatbot, particularly the risks it poses on the children’s safety.
Elena was stunned and shocked by this entire “race” culture among companies adopting ChatGPT without properly investigating the risks and putting this technology to test BEFORE deploying this out into the public.
Her views were strong stating categorically that children should not be experimented on. The responsibility lies with the companies to prove it to us, the public, that their technology is safe to use.
We urgently need an investigation into this and tight (enforceable) regulation controls, making CEOs of these companies accountable when public safety is at risk and when there is blatant disregard for the already existing privacy laws.
No technology should be deployed until companies using LLMs and other AI systems can prove that it is safe. The onus is on the companies to take every step possible to ensure the public interacting with their systems (let alone children) is safe at all times.
