A PhD student in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Cincinnati with a Master’s Degree in Physics and Data Scientist, Piero Paialunga is an expert in his field who now works as a Machine Learning Engineer at Gen Nine Inc.

Skilled in Machine Learning and Data Science, Piero takes complex systems and unpacks them easily. Among his numerous accolades, Piero is one of six students to have been selected as a UC Space Research Institute Fellow.

INTRODUCTION TO AI

What is AI and what can you create with it? We will explore the concepts of AI, Intelligence, Automation and Machine learning, and learn about data-handling for AI and machine learning tasks. You will also see how algorithms work and some examples of AI using real-world applications.

INTRODUCTION TO AI ETHICS

In this lesson, you will be provided with an understanding of ethical considerations and implications surrounding the development and use of artificial intelligence. Through case studies, you will see examples of ethical issues that have been addressed in real-world scenarios. Additionally, you will be introduced to best practices for responsible and ethical AI development. By the end of the video, you will have a solid foundation in the key concepts and issues related to AI ethics.

VECTORS, TENSORS AND MATRICES

Reading an image in black and white or  reading an image in various colours. Concepts like an array, matrix, and tensor will be defined and explored. For us, an image is something that can evoke feelings, emotions, and thoughts. For a computer, an image is a matrix of numbers! After this part of the course, you  will learn how a computer reads both a black and white image and a coloured one using RGB.

BIG DATA + PRINCIPAL COMPONENT ANALYSIS

Compressing the information of data using Principal Component Analysis.  In the era of Big Data, storing the information in the simplest way possible is crucial. After this part of the course, you will learn what Principal Component Analysis is, will explore the curse of dimensionality problems, and will learn how to compress the information of data.

TRAINING AND TEST SETS, PROBABILITY, BAYES RULE

Arguably, one of the most important tools in Image Processing is Image Classification. Applying what you  have seen in the first chapter, you will be able to familiarise yourself with different methods of classification, using the built-in digits dataset.

COLOUR DETECTION, SUPERVISED + UNSUPERVISED LEARNING, K MEANS

Using an unsupervised Machine Learning method to detect colours in an image. We all have our  favourite colours, and we may associate  colours with feelings: for some, blue is sadness and green is envy. Yet, for a computer, these colours are sequences of numbers that are not attached to emotions. After this part of the course, you will be able to distinguish the colours in an image in an unsupervised way, using Machine Learning.
