Hamburg & London, 9 May 2023 – The tech divide and the lack of gender and ethnic diversity in tech-related fields call for the ever-growing need to ensure our youth are well-equipped to thrive in tomorrow’s world. At Teens in AI, action is being taken to tackle part of the issue, to make tech skills accessible to young people. In line with their Sustainability Agenda CARE BEYOND SKIN – a focal point of which is to foster an inclusive society – Beiersdorf has partnered with Teens in AI. Teens in AI is a social impact-driven organisation seeking to inspire teens to explore a future in tech and AI through collaborative, hands-on learning experiences.
Empowering Youth with Tech Skills for a Better Future
Recognising the importance of equipping young people with the skills they need to succeed in tomorrow’s world, the partnership between Teens in AI and Beiersdorf aims to provide these skills to those who may not have the opportunity otherwise. By making the world of responsible AI and technology more accessible, young people from under-resourced communities can be inspired and empowered to shape their dreams and build a better future for themselves and their communities.

To achieve this, Teens in AI and Beiersdorf are joining forces to create a tangible impact by organising a series of nine in-person hackathons across Beiersdorf Group’s European locations , the first of which will take place at the start of June this year. These hackathons are specifically designed to provide under-resourced youth with an introduction to the world of technology and AI. They will learn in practical, fun and collaborative ways – whilst developing creative, innovative tech4good solutions in response to a United Nations SDG-inspired (Sustainable Development Goal) challenge. By fostering a supportive environment that incorporates tech skills workshops, talks on responsible AI and mentorship, Teens in AI brings years of experience working with young people, making tech upskilling accessible to underserved communities. Together, Beiersdorf and Teens in AI aim to create a brighter and more sustainable future for all.
