Terms & Conditions of Business
Interpretation
1.1 In these Terms & Conditions of Business (these “Conditions”), the following terms shall have the following meanings:
- ‘Booking Form’ – the online booking form by which details of the Event Participant and the Event he/she wishes to attend are submitted to Teens in AI;
- ‘Event’ – the Event that the Event Participant is attending, as set out in the Booking Form;
- ‘Event Participant’ – the child or children who will be attending the Event as specified in the Booking Form;
- ‘Teens In AI’ – Acorn Aspirations t/a Teens in AI, of Tintagel House, 92 Albert Embankment, London, England, SE1 7TY;
- ‘Fees’ – the fees shown on Teens in AI’s website or other published literature relating to the Services from time to time;
- ‘Location’ – the location of the Event (including the site of the courses and the sites used for recreation);
- ‘Services’ – the provision of the Event for the Event Participant by Teens in AI; and
- ‘You’ and ‘your’ – the Event Participant’s parent(s) or guardian(s) as specified in “Your Details” in the Booking Form.
1.2 The headings in these Conditions are for convenience only and shall not affect their interpretation.
Supply of Services
2.1 Teens in AI shall provide the Services to the Event Participant subject to these Conditions. By booking and paying the fee you agree on behalf of yourself and the Event Participant you are bound by these Conditions. These Conditions constitute the entire agreement between Teens in AI and you/the Event Participant and may not be varied except in writing by a director of Teens in AI.
2.2 Bookings are accepted at the discretion of Teens in AI and are not transferable.
2.3 You shall fully complete the Booking Form and, at your own expense, supply Teens in AI with all necessary and other information required by Teens in AI in connection with the Services.
2.4 Teens in AI may correct any typographical or other errors or omissions in any Teens in AI material relating to the provision of the Services without incurring any liability to you.
Payment of Fees
3.1 You shall pay Teens in AI the Fees and any additional sums which are agreed between you and Teens in AI for the provision of the Services.
3.2 The full Fees must be sent to Teens in AI via the website Booking Form. No booking is valid until payment has been received – whether in part or in full. Teens in AI accept payment for Fees by bank transfer only. Cash sums in payment for Fees are not acceptable.
3.3 Full payment must be received a minimum of 48 hours before event participation.
Rules, Regulations and your Liability
4.1 You agree to be wholly liable for any and all actions and/or omissions of the Event Participant. Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, you shall be liable for any liability, financial or otherwise, or injury or damage to property caused by the Event Participant whilst at the Location, and shall fully indemnify Teens in AI, their agents, contractors and/or employees for any loss, damage, costs or expenses resulting from such liability, injury or damage.
4.2 Teens in AI reserves the right to make rules and regulations relating to the Event Participant’s participation in the Event (the “Rules”). The Rules form part of these Conditions and will be notified to the Event Participant at the Location or earlier.
4.3 Any failure by the Event Participant to adhere to the Rules may result in his/her participation at the Event being terminated forthwith without refund and in such event the Event Participant may be sent home at your expense.
4.4 Without prejudice to paragraph 4.3 above, Teens in AI reserves the right to withdraw the Event Participant from any activity at any time on the grounds of safety or unsuitability.
4.5 We endeavour to accommodate food and other allergens, as specified by you in the Booking Form or other pre-event document, but cannot guarantee their exclusion from the Event.
Refunds & Cancellation: In-Person & Online Events including AI4Good Incubator
5.1 In the event of cancellation by you, a refund will only be issued if such cancellation is notified in writing by email to Teens in AI on [email protected] at least 30 (thirty) days before the commencement of the Event. An administration charge of 20% (twenty percent) per Event Participant will be deducted from the credit prior to returning the funds.
5.2 No refunds will be issued if cancellation by you is requested less than 30 (thirty) days before commencement of the Event.
5.3 If, for any reason, the Event (whether online or in-person) is cancelled by Teens in AI, the total liability of Teens in AI will be limited to the total sum of Fees paid by you, per Event Participant, for registration of attendance. In these specific circumstances, the 20% administration fee for cancellation will not be charged.
5.4 Fees are non-refundable for Event Participants arriving late, leaving early or missing a day of the Event (whether on account of illness or any other cause including circumstances outside of their control).
Refunds & Cancellation: Online Courses
5.5 Course fees will not be refunded once a course has commenced.
5.6 Refunds or cancellations can only be issued if:
- Event Participants or parent(s) or guardian(s) have requested a refund 14 (fourteen) days before the first day of the course;
- The course has been cancelled by Teens in AI; the total liability of Teens in AI will be limited to the sum of Fees paid by you, per Event Participant, for registration of attendance.
5.7 In the event a refund for cancellation has been accepted, an administration charge of 20% (twenty percent) per Event Participant will be deducted from the credit prior to returning the funds.
5.8 Teens in AI does not offer refunds even in circumstances where you have:
- not yet started the course;
- started the course and didn’t like coding or course curriculum;
- started the course but are dissatisfied with the course material provided;
- started the course but didn’t like the feedback you received;
- decided to purchase a different course with another school; or
- purchased or received a course as a gift.
Voucher codes: Applicability, Redemption, Misuse, Modification and Termination
6.1 Participants must enter the valid voucher code at the checkout when registering to receive the associated discount.
6.2 Voucher codes may be provided through various channels, including promotional campaigns, partnerships, referrals, or special offers. The applicability of voucher codes may be subject to specific courses, events, or eligibility criteria as specified in the promotional material or communication.
6.3 Voucher codes can only be redeemed by the individual for whom the code was issued.
6.4 Participants may redeem one voucher code per registration and cannot combine with other offers.
6.5 Voucher codes are not transferable for cash or any other form of monetary value.
6.6 Each voucher code will have an expiry date, after which it will no longer be valid for redemption. The validity period will be clearly communicated to participants through promotional material or communication.
6.7 Retrospective discounts or refunds for the difference in prices will not be provided for Participants who have already completed their registration without applying the voucher code. Once a registration is completed, the voucher code cannot be applied retrospectively.
6.8 Any abuse or misuse, including unauthorised sharing, duplication, or sale, will result in the code being invalidated and may lead to further actions, such as cancellation of registration or legal measures. Teens in AI reserves the right to investigate and take appropriate action in case of suspected abuse or misuse of voucher codes.
6.9 Teens in AI reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate voucher codes at any time without prior notice.
6.10 Any modifications or terminations will not affect the validity of voucher codes that have already been redeemed within the designated period.
Prize disbursement
7.1 In the event that participant prize winners fail to provide the required details for the transfer of prizes within the specified deadline period, Teens in AI reserves the right to make alternative prize arrangements including, but not limited to, issuing Amazon vouchers of equivalent value.
7.2 Teens in AI requires participant bank details to achieve this, these include their full name (as it appears on their bank statement), IBAN, SWIFT, official bank address, and an official bank slip containing all the above information. If the recipient country is a High-Risk Third Country, we reserve the right to replace the cash with an online store voucher, Paypal or Paypal-equivalent.
7.3 Failure to submit these details by the stipulated deadline will result in the forfeiture of the original prize and acceptance of the alternative arrangement as final.
Liability
8.1 Except in respect of death or personal injury caused by Teens in AI’s negligence, Teens in AI shall not be liable to you or the Event Participant by reason of any representation (unless fraudulent) or any implied warranty, condition or other term or any duty at common law or under the express terms of these Conditions for any loss of profit or any indirect, special or consequential loss, damage, costs, expenses or other claims (whether caused by or negligent or the negligence of our servants, or agents or otherwise) which arise out of or in connection with the provision of the Services or their use by you or the Event Participant, and our entire liability under or in connection with these Conditions shall not exceed the amount of our Fees for the provision of the Services.
8.2 Where Teens in AI provides, in connection with the provision of the Services, any goods or equipment or services supplied by a third party, Teens in AI does not give any warranty, guarantee or other terms as to their quality, fitness for purpose, performance or otherwise.
8.3 Teens in AI shall have no liability to the Event Participant for any loss, damage, costs, expenses or other claims for compensation arising from any instructions supplied by you which are incomplete, incorrect, inaccurate or illegible, or arising from the Event Participant’s late arrival or non-arrival, or any other fault by you or the Event Participant.
8.4 Teens in AI shall not be liable to you or be deemed to be in breach of the contract by reason of any delay in performing, or any failure to perform, any of Teens in AI’ obligations in relation to the Services, if the delay or failure was due to any cause beyond Teens in AI’ reasonable control.
8.5 Teens in AI reserves the right to alter programmes, activities, itineraries, excursions, age brackets, premises and personnel as it thinks fit and without notice.
8.6 Teens in AI will not be bound by any statement unless it is in writing and authorised by a director of Teens in AI.
Medical and Behavioural
9.1 Teens in AI reserves the right to suspect or remove any Event Participant whose attendance, work or behaviour is, in their reasonable opinion, unsatisfactory. Under such circumstances, Teens in AI will be under no obligation to return any fees. Event Participants who disrupt the learning environment for others, who destroy property or projects, and who otherwise compromise the health, safety and/or learning environment will be removed.
9.2 Permission is given to administer medication or first aid if required.
Jewellery, Valuables and Lost Property
10.1 Teens in AI will not be liable for any item of jewellery or valuable property brought to the Location by the Event Participant.
10.2 Teens in AI will not be responsible for any property left at the Location (by the Event Participant or otherwise), and may dispose of any such property if not claimed and collected by you within 7 (seven) days of the end of the Event.
Personal Searches
11.1 Teens in AI reserves the right to search the bags and other personal property of all Event Participants in appropriate circumstances.
Smoking and Alcohol
12.1 Possession and consumption of alcohol, tobacco or recreational drugs by the Event Participant at the Event are NOT PERMITTED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Please note that if the Event Participant does not adhere to this condition, he/she will be removed from Event in accordance with paragraph 4.3 of these Conditions.
Publicity
13.1 You acknowledge that Teens in AI may use for publicity purposes and without prior notification any photograph or video taken of the Event Participant at the Location, and any statement (whether written or verbal) made by you or the Event Participant.
Child Protection/Safeguarding
14.1 Teens in AI will contact the Local Safeguarding Children’s board if it suspects abuse or in the event of a disclosure.
Force Majeure
15.1 We shall not be liable for any delay in performing or failure to perform any obligation (including to action any alteration or cancellation) due to any cause beyond our reasonable control including lock-outs, strikes, shortages of personnel, labour disputes, war, riot, act of God, civil commotion, terrorism, malicious damage, threats to safety, compliance with any law or governmental order, rule, regulation or direction, accident, environmental contamination, pandemic outbreak of disease, breakdown of plant or machinery, fire, flood, storm, difficulty or increased expense in obtaining workmen, materials, goods or raw materials in connection with the performance of these Conditions. In the case of cancellation by you or the Event Participant or Teens in AI due to Force Majeure we will not refund cancellations.
General
16.1 If any provision of these Conditions is held by any competent authority to be invalid or unenforceable in whole or in part, the validity of the other provisions of these Conditions and the remainder of the provision in question shall not be affected.
16.2 This agreement is governed by the laws of England and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
